Already in 1824, the Llevat family dedicated itself to rent to the friars of the monastery of Mont-roig their presses to make oil. Thus, the familiar legacy related to the world of the olive oil, already began two centuries ago.
Later, Marià Llevat, owner of the house where the Oil Museum is placed and great-grandfather of the family, continued with this legacy.
Following its steps, Anselm Solé Font got ahead creating a mill of oil in 1944 in the Reus Avenue of Mont-roig of the Camp.
And going on with this family tradition, Ester Solé and Antonio March (founders of Olis Solé), created the present active mill, the E.Solé mill in 1987.

They are the founders of the SOLÉ Museum of Oil, a little bit by chance, a little bit to give evidence of the family’s tradition, that has surrounded us during several generations.
In summer of 2004 we carried out works in the store (old stable of the great-grandfather Marià Llevat - 1801 -), where we discovered two buckets where Marià conserved the oil produced by his family. Thus, it is discovered where the oil was kept by the family more than 200 years ago.
Since then, we have been working to be able to open to the public this museum of the oil, that tries to compile all the elements, tools and machinery that our family has been using during the last three generations.
Therefore, we invite to you to visit the "Museu de l’Oli SOLÉ", a museum full, as much of life as of ancestral traditions.
We hope you enjoy this visit! |
